Ist Europa noch zu retten? / Is Europe still to be saved?

Sie kennen diese Frage nicht? Damit sind sie nicht allein. Niemand kennt diese Frage, denn niemand hat sie bislang gestellt. Die Rettung Europas steht nicht auf der politischen Agenda. Auf dem Plan stehen der Brexit, nationale Alleingänge, Durchsetzung von Interessen etc.
Die Vision eines vereinten Europas ist verblaßt, weil man in Brüssel noch immer eines nicht begriffen hat: Nur ein wirklich vereintes Europa wird in der Lage sein, den USA und China Paroli zu bieten. Schaffen wir das nicht, wird in wenigen Jahren der Ausverkauf Europas beginnen. Ich habe bewußt"wir" gesagt, denn diese Aufgabe kann nicht allein von der Politik bewältigt werden. Unser Denken in nationalstaatlichen Bahnen und Lösungen ist ein (lebens-)gefährlicher Ansatz. Dieses Denken müssen wir überwinden. Zusätzlich ist es notwendig, eine europäische Regierung zu bilden, mit einer europäischen Außen- und Wirtschaftspolitik. Europa muß lernen, mit einer Stimme zu sprechen und zu handeln.

You don't know this question? You are not alone. Nobody knows this question, because nobody has asked it so far. Saving Europe is not on the political agenda. On the agenda are the Brexit, national solo attempts, the assertion of interests, and so on.
The vision of a united Europe has faded because Brussels has still not grasped one thing: Only a truly united Europe will be able to stand up to the USA and China. If we do not succeed, Europe will start selling out in a few years' time. I deliberately said 'we' , because this task cannot be accomplished by politics alone. Our thinking in national tracks and solutions is a (life-)threatening approach. We must overcome this thinking. In addition, it is necessary to form a European government with a European foreign and economic policy. Europe must learn to speak and act with one voice.
